Philip Fairey Honored by National Home Energy Rating Industry for Development of National Standards
|
Philip W. Fairey, interim director of the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC),
has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Residential Energy Services
Network (RESNET) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the home energy
rating industry.
Fairey, who has been with FSEC since 1980, has served as interim director since
November, 2002. He established the Center's buildings research program and has been
key to its development and leadership. Among his many accomplishments has been the
creation and development of the Energy Gauge home rating system, which has become
the national standard.
The citation presented to him by RESNET, which is the national network of mortgage
lenders, the rating industry and other housing industry and building performance
professionals, acknowledges his leadership "in the development of national standards
for the industry, technical direction and credibility, and policy initiatives.
There are now rating programs in all 50 states that have been accredited through the
standards that Philip Fairey was instrumental in having adopted and the standards
are recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency for verification of the energy
performance of Energy Star Homes."
RESNET presents the award to individuals whose contributions to the rating industry
deserve recognition. Fairey received the award at RESNET's annual conference in San
Diego, CA, February 23-26, 2003.
The Florida Solar Energy Center, a research institute of the University of Central
